Prior to coming along to your 1st appointment we will send you a food diary and pre-consultation questionnaire to complete.
You will return this to us before the appointment preferably at least 24 hours before. This gives us time to do a lot of the assessment component before you come to the initial consultation. There will still be additional information we will need to discuss with you, but this way we do not waste valuable time collecting information that you can easily send to us before hand.
During the initial consultation we collect some additional important information, take a baseline body weight and waist measurement, discuss our assessment, your goals and then get on to developing a plan that will work for YOU (and your family).
To develop a valuable, personalised plan that can be incorporated in to your lifestyle and family needs, we need around 48 hours after the initial consultation to develop it in its entirety. After all this will include a shopping guide, meal plan, recipes etc so a fair bit of work needs to be done.
Once we have sent you the plan we encourage you to have a thorough read, contact us if there is anything that you would like clarification on, and then get shopping (and eating)!
During the weight loss program you will have 1 scheduled face-to-face reviews with the Nutrition Melbourne Dietitian. At your review we will monitor your weight and waist measurement. There will also be 1 scheduled email support session to provide additional assistance in between the face-to-face consultations. It takes around 3 months to take a new lifestyle practice and convert it in to a behaviour. Therefore, generally the program is completed over a 12 week time frame but this will vary from person to person.
At the review consultation, we review progress, make any necessary adjustments, provide some structured education on important areas of sustainable weight loss and set some new short-term goals.
Upon completion of the Nutrition Melbourne Weight Loss Program many patients choose to continue having regular ongoing review consultations with our Dietitians. We offer discounted review consultations for patients who have completed the initial phase of the Weight Loss Program. If you would like ongoing support and accountability the frequency of reviews is entirely up to you. This is best discussed directly with the dietitian.

When moving from being substantially overweight with a poor diet towards being conscious about what you eat (and combining this with some movement) weight will naturally start to shift down. These initial results are great and this leads to additional motivation, more effort and more weight loss. Comments from friends start to flow in and self esteem grows, motivation is up (generally more movement as well) and you continue to push downwards on the scales. Then after a while, no matter what you do, the scales do not shift. We have helped many motivated people get past this sticking point.
