Prior to coming along to your 1st appointment we will send you a food diary and pre-consultation questionnaire to complete.
You will return this to us before the appointment preferably at least 24 hours before. This gives us time to do a lot of the assessment component before you come to the appointment. There will still be additional information we will need to discuss and collect at that initial consultation, but then we can get down to plan development, and not waist valuable time collecting information that you can easily send to us beforehand.
During the initial consultation we collect some additional important information, discuss our assessment, your goals and then get on to developing a plan that will work for YOU. At your initial consultation we also do a body composition assessment through a series of skinfold and girth measurements and combine this information with weight to give us a clear picture of where you are at.
We require about 48 hours after the initial consultation to develop a valuable, personalised dietary plan that considers your training schedule and can be incorporated in to your lifestyle. Included with this is a comprehensive meal plan and recipes so that’s why it takes us a couple of days to put your plan together in its entirety.
Once we have sent you the plan we encourage you to have a thorough read, contact us if there is anything that you would like clarification on, and then get shopping (and eating)!
Once you have started the program we request that you give us an update on your progress after two solid weeks of implementation.
During the physique program you will have one scheduled review with the Nutrition Melbourne Dietitian. This is done around 6 weeks after the initial consultation.
At the review consultation, we do another body composition assessment and discuss the results. New targets are set and necessary dietary adjustments are discussed.
Upon completion of the Physique Program many patients choose to continue having regular ongoing review consultations with our Dietitian’s. We offer discounted review consultations for patients who have completed the initial phase of the Physique Program. If you would like ongoing support and accountability the frequency of reviews is entirely up to you. This is best discussed directly with the sports dietitian.

We track changes in body composition through a series of skinfold and girth measurements and combine this information with weight to give us a clear picture of your progress. When assessed by a qualified and experienced Anthropometrist, this form of body composition assessment provides precise and accurate measurements in an efficient and inexpensive way. In fact, this is what is used by professional athletes extensively to assess body composition changes relative to food and training programs.

What has worked for you in the past isn’t necessarily what’s required now. In fact, if you have been following the same diet program for an extended period of time because it has worked in the past then it is fundamental for the bodies continued adaptation that you change things around. Think of it this way, when we start a new weights program we see initial adaptation because we are using our muscles in a different way. Then after around 6-8 weeks we look to adjust to avoid a plateau and achieve continual adaptation. We aim for the same adjustments with our physique nutrition plans. We focus on a specific nutrition plan to achieve a particular body composition target in around 6-8 weeks, then at that stage we set new targets and adjust our eating accordingly. It is essential for continued adaptation to having a tailored plan specific to the next goal set in place.
